faq

What is this “zuza” then?

I’m Zuza! It’s me, it’s always been me! By which I mean Zuza is the first name of the creator of this wonderful froggy nonsense.

why frogs?

During the pandemic there was a popular series of frog memes making rounds on social media. I remember looking at them then and thinking that the only thing they’re missing is a juicy bum. I quickly sat down and created three illustrations taking on this theme – these became the “Flirty Frogs” that you can now see as prints and stickers.
Around the same time I finally managed to finish my massive crochet blanket. Making and unmaking this blanket was how I learned to crochet over something like 3 years. Having finally concluded my work done to a satisfactory level I decided that I don’t have to allow my memes to be dreams and I can make them into real 3D things.
The pandemic was a strange time and so, the Frogue Gang 1.0 was born, cheeked up and extremely green!

you must really love frogs?

I love frogs and cats!
With cats I love them for their aloof floof, their grumpy disposition, their silly little faces and pitiful meows and birps. I also love them for the cuddles and being woken up at wee hours of the morning by a rumbling engine settled on my stomach.

I love frogs for the ease with which you can illustrate them. All it really takes for a frog to be recognisable as a frog is to make it green and give it that characteristic eye shape. From then on you can do pretty much whatever you want! A Scot, a pretzel, a samurai, a Hamlet – there is nowhere they won’t go. They’re very mailable and at the same time quite androgenous meaning they aren’t necessarily for boys or girls or nb’s. And not to mention – green is such a lovely soothing colour, which goes severely underutilised by many makers, meaning they’re bound to stand out wherever I go!

How can I keep up with you?

Follow me on socials! You can find me at @zuzamakes, look for the cheeky frog in the profile! I try to update all my accounts relatively regularly but I do tend to go dormant between mid-December and January, so don’t be alarmed if you don’t see any updates then.

How can i buy your products?

If you’re looking to buy specific items, currently you can find them in several shop around the UK. You can also find me at one of the live events and markets I do around Scotland and the North of England throughout the year.

Alternatively you can order my frogs online on ZuzaMakes.etsy.com. If what you’re looking for isn’t there, don’t worry! Just drop me a message and I will either arrange for it to be listed or we can sort something out directly.

Where do you ship?

I currently ship anywhere in the UK, and most other places around the world. All orders are shipped from Scotland so some deliveries abroad might be more expensive and have added taxes and dues before you can receive them.

Do you offer free shipping?

I offer free shipping on smaller stationery items within the UK. Zuza Makes is a small operation so larger items do have shipping charges added to them.

How long until i get my order?

I ship all orders using the Royal Mail. Standard shipping is their 48h untracked and can take up to 5 working days to arrive, increasing in the busy periods. If you haven’t received your package after that time, please get in touch with me and I can see what I can do to spur Royal Mail on or send you a replacement.

All stationery orders are dispatched within 1-3 days of placing the order. Other orders may take 2-3 days and custom orders take upwards of 10 working days.

do you do commissions?

I’m generally open to commissions though I get very busy at certain parts of the year and probably won’t be able to take it on. This tends to happen around July-September and November-December so plan accordingly.

What sorts of commissions do you accept?

I do all sorts! I can create you a custom sticker sheet, a crochet creature with a jumper with your name on it, custom painted denim jackets and in the future also jumpers and scarves. Anything that I produce in small batches (ie. notebooks, bookmarks, socks, acrylic keyrings etc.) I can’t make as a one-off item so please look through my product catalog and pay special attention to the manufacturing type of that product.

How long does it take for you to finish my commission or custom order?

It depends on the order, it’s technical complexity and how busy I am! I aim to finish all commissions within 2 weeks but some projects might require specialist materials (paint, yarn etc) and that might extend the wait. When you get in touch with me and explain your project, I will let you know my availability, prices and expected delivery time.

How much does it cost?

Please refer to the product catalog for standard pricing of my products. There you can find what sorts of prices you can expect from ordering your own Big Frogue, mini keychain or the general cost of customising a denim jacket.

If what you’re looking for isn’t there, it will be priced based on its complexity and thus how much it’s going to take me to make it. For example, a completely unique, simple, geometric design in 1 colour is probably only going to take a couple of hours to create. On the other hand a full-colour painting of Pikachu across the entire back of your oversize jacket will take at least 3 days with each layer of paint needing to dry between application.

Please do bear in mind that original designs take extra time for freehanding designs, cutting stencils, etc. and so their base price will be higher than of a comparable standard design.

Do you do collaborations?

Yes! I love collaborating with small businesses and passionate people! Feel free to pitch me your project or idea and I will make sure to get back to you! My availability will depend on the time of year and how many other projects I’m working on so don’t be discouraged if I ask you to be patient with me – there are times in the year when I start work at 7am and finish at 1am and there is simply nothing I can fit into my schedule!
